The Environmental Protection Agency

An Ghnomhaireacht um Chaomhn Comhshaoil
Who does what in protecting Ireland's Environment?

Protecting Ireland's environment is a huge responsibility and one that the Environmental Protection Agency is actively engaged in every day. We work with many other organisations that carry out specific environmental functions. We have produced two new brochures to clarify what the EPA does and what other organisations do to protect Ireland's environment.

The Environmental Protection Agency who we are, what we do

This brochure sets out the work of the EPA. It details the EPA's involvement in relation to licensing, waste manage-ment, monitoring, analysing, reporting, environmental policing, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental research, strategic environmental assessment and environmental education and guidance.

Ireland's Environment who does what?

As well as giving a brief overview of the EPA this brochure also provides details about Ireland's Environmental Team, the core players involved in protecting, monitoring, policing and planning for a better environment.

Organisations featured include the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government; ENFO; Local Authorities; RPII; SEI; An Bord Pleanla; the Central Fisheries Board and other non-governmental organisations. A fold down section reveals an A-Z of who to contact in relation to particular environmental issues. Contact phone numbers and website addresses for each organisation are also listed.

We hope that you will find yourself referring to this brochure regularly as we all work together to protect and enhance Ireland's environment.

Complimentary copies of these brochures can be ordered from the EPA publications department, McCumiskey House, Richview, Clonskeagh Road, Dublin 14. Ph: 01-2680100. Wall chart versions of the A-Z are also available.
