![]() The Irish 2004 teams which represented Ireland at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) and the European Union Science Olympiad (EUSO) were selected at the IBM/DCU Irish Science Olympiad held in DCU in December 2003. Approximately 450 second-level science students from schools from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland attended this event. 2004 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) The 2004 IBO was held in Brisbane, Australia, from the 11th 18th July. The Irish team was selected and trained by Professor Richard O Kennedy, Elizabeth Tully and Sharon Stapleton of the School of Biotechnology, DCU. A panel of fourteen medal winners at the ISO-Biology in December was given additional training and assignments before the team of four was finally selected in May. These four students received a week long intensive residential training programme in DCU on the IBO syllabus prior to their departure for Brisbane. Joanna Curry and Marguerite Carter were awarded Bronze IBO medals. This brings to twelve the number of International Biology Medals won by Irish students since Ireland first participated in the IBO in 1998. 2004 Irish IBO Team Marguerite Carter - Loreto High School, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14 Joanna Curry - Convent Grammar School, Strabane, Co.
